Guest Reader
Today we had a special guest visiting fourth grade. What did you learn?

When I was wondering the weather on December 8th Mr. Bogner came to our elementary school. He gave a lot of information about what to wear, the weather, and the temperature. He taught me that if you get to hot you could have brain damage. He told me what to do if something dangerous happens like a tornado, hurricane, and a hailstorm. Then he read a book to us called The Mitten. What I liked when he came is that he had a cool chart that had all these numbers on the smart board and showed us if we had a temperature and wind it would tell us what exactly the temperature would be. What I learned is that sllet is like hail but hail is bigger and if there is cold air and warm air and it there is sleet it starts out as sllet then rain then sleet.
Mr. Bogner came to our elementary school and told us about winter storms like floods, sleet, frostbites, hurricane and tornados. One reason about frostbites is that if you stay outside for 30 minutes and its cold you can get is on your hands, nose and feet. Hurricanes happen when the ocean is warm. The most interesting one is that tornados can be invisible. When your looking at the clouds and its spinning and you don’t see anything in front of you and look down and its spinning then there’s a tornado in there but you don’t see it in front of you. When you get older your bones get easier to break.
Mr. Bogner came to our elementary school on December eight. He is the weather man. He showed us his stuff on the computers. He talked to us about the weather and the danger in the weather. His channel is three.
December 8 One day a weather man named Mr. Bogner came to our Elementary school to teach us about weather. If you get too cold you can get frostbite or hypothermia, was one thing he taught us. Winter weather can be dangerous because of snow, sleet, and hail. Sleet can make cars slip, and Hail can damage cars. Frozen rain and sleet are different. Frozen rain freezes to the surface when it hits a surface, while sleet bounces. I learned that winter weather can be dangerous, and if your body gets too hot or too cold you might be in trouble.
Mr.Bogner, a weather man, came to our Elementary school on December 8. He taught us that if you get in front of a tornado you could get killed. He also told us that the coldest Wichita had ever been was -40 degrees. He said that when you get frostbit you kill your blood cells because they break. He said that sleet is little balls that look like snow. He said that older people’s bones break easy. He taught us that when you shiver when it’s not cold that is called hypothermia. Hypothermia can be bad. And when you rfelling hot that is called hyperthermia.
I learned that if you get to hot it can lead to permanently brain damage. I also learned how to protect your own body when it is super cold. If you get to cold it can lead to hyperthermia. The worst weather In Wichita KS is the blizzard and sleet because it can hurt you very bad. The story about Mr. Bogner coming to our elementary school is that he taught us so many ways to keep us safe and healthy in the snow.

He also told us about some things that can injure you and ways you can help. For example if you get hypothermia which is when your body gets to cold. A way you can help is by giving them something warm to drink. Or you can put a warm blanket on them. If you get frostbit your tips of your ears, nose, fingers and toes will freeze. He also told us that ten inches of snow is one inch of water.

Then he had a power point setup about weather and freeze bite and other stuff. Then he answered questions about weather. I asked did he have to go through college? He said yes he had to go though four years of college. He answered one last question and then read a book called the mitten.

Its winter and Mr. Bonger is from channel 3, KSN. Mr. Bogner came to our school. Mr. Bogner told us about safety tips so we can be safe during the winter. He told us about the freeze bite and blizzards. The thing that was interesting was the blizzard in the early 1980’s when all the kids had no school for ten days.
